The President’s Welcome

“The Poynton British Legion Concert Band features players from a wide range of backgrounds, meeting every Wednesday night at the local British Legion Club in Poynton.

We perform three main public concerts each year: one at Midsummer and one at Christmas, both at the Civic Hall in Poynton, as well as an annual Remembrance Concert at the Legion. In addition to this, we perform at outdoor venues such as the bandstands in Congleton Park and Pavilion Gardens in BuxtonWe also entertain Christmas shoppers outside major stores at Handforth Dean and Cheadle Hulme and provide music for private events in the local area.

In November 2024, the Band had the honour of providing music at the National Arboretum in Staffordshire as part of a National Service of Remembrance dedicated to Freemasons who lost their lives in wars since 1914.

We pride ourselves on having a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We are always open to seeing new players and would alway love to hear from you.

The Band is led by a strong committee and has been guided over the years by a range of competent conductors who have contributed to its ongoing success. This has been reflected in the high attendance at our concerts—so much so that if you don’t book early, you may miss out!

We pride ourselves on offering a varied repertoire, ensuring that no two concerts are alike, and are regularly investing in new music to keep our performances fresh and exciting.”
